Buddy Moving started in 2020 with two brothers, one truck and a first job that
took fourteen hours. We have gotten a lot faster since.
The reason we started it is the reason most people start anything: we had used movers, and it
had been miserable. A quote that was not really a quote. A crew that turned up whenever. A
scratched table and a form that said sixty cents a pound. Nobody was rude about it. It was just
the normal way the industry works, and the normal way is bad.
So we built the opposite of that, one piece at a time. An hourly rate with everything in it,
so there is nothing to add at the end. Crews on our own payroll instead of whoever was available,
because you cannot promise anything about a stranger. Real coverage on damage instead of a legal
minimum. And names and photos of your crew before the day, because the strangest part of moving
is that you let people you have never met carry everything you own.
That is where the name comes from, and it is not a marketing idea. We call them buddies
because of what they are: the most careful, most trustworthy movers you will ever hire. Not
someone who picked up a weekend job and will not be here next month. Every one of them is
interviewed, screened, and trained by our field managers before they
are trusted with your things. We vet movers the way other people vet accountants.
It seems to have worked. More than twenty thousand moves later, Inc. ranked us the 634th
fastest-growing private company in America, the 75th in Dallas, and the 24th in logistics.
Readers of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram voted us DFW's favorite movers, and Frisco voted us
their number one. We did not give ourselves any of those.
There are more than a hundred buddies now, all on our own payroll, and on a busy day they
will run fifty moves across Dallas–Fort Worth. We are still in Carrollton, we still only
move within Texas, and the phone is still answered by someone who works here.
